I can't remember what name that stuff was. It was 95% alcohol though. Stated right on it that you were in no way to drink it straight. Believe me, that's there for a reason.
I've been sticking with Kokanee lately, but I might move back to Alpine.

as for the AGD, yeah it was a chance find back when we lived in BC...uber-cheap and tastes good.
was quite happy to find it here, although I've only found one beer store that carries it. luckily, it's right across the street. and yes, that did play a part in choosing this apartment. [img]wink.gif[/img]
Kokanee is good stuff. the only beers I don't care for, really, are imports. I like some imports, but not ohters. I can't stand Heinecken(sp). tastes like a CAN beer gone skunky...
and American beer is just...sad.

It's weird how each region in the same fucking country has different beer. I've never even heard of the Velvet Stout. There's a maritime microbrewery that makes a beer called Black Pearl which isn't a bad cream stout. There's a couple restaurants here on the island though that brew there own - they have a dark (I don't think it's stout though) beer with almost a coffee like taste - Iron Horse. Damned good stuff.
last time I had VCS was probably 12 or 13 years ago...
we had Iron Horse back in BC, but it's different. just a straight lager. 6.8%, and nasty as a $2 whore.

when I lived in Dartmouth (Nova Scotia, for the Americans...), me and my bud used to hit this bar that made their own beer. 8 different kinds, and it changed all the time. I had a really good oatmeal lager there. I know it sounds gross, but it was really good.
